Don't Leave Prostrate Health to Chance

Worried about your prostrate health?

You should be.

I never had any trouble with mine. Although I knew prostate cancer was one of the most common cancers affecting men in America, I never gave it a second thought until the day I received my PSA results from the clinic. Shellshock. Denial. Bewildered numbness. These terms can only partially describe how I felt at that very moment.

Although a small gland, the prostate can cause a lot of trouble. Enlargement of the prostate usually occurs especially in men over the age of fifty. Inflammation of the prostate can also occur.

My doctor recommended I get a biopsy done but I kept putting it off. I had a lot of scary thoughts circulating in my head. But on the insistence of my wife, I got it done. The relief of seeing the negative report eased a lot of the panic and tension I had been through earlier on.

There is no doubt that prostrate health is extremely important particularly as men age. Getting regular screenings is key to maintaining good health. A biopsy might sound unpleasant but it can set your mind at rest or else warn you in time of any dangers.

There are reports of a new test that has less false results than the standard biopsy. This is a blood test that sounds promising but I haven't found that much information on it yet. Prostate enlargement can be countered by drugs such as Avodart but this has several side effects.

Antibiotics are commonly used to treat prostatitis. Other medications may also be precribed by your doctor. Its good to be a little worried about your prostrate health as only then will you go about finding out more information on it. And this ultimately, could help save your life.
