Prostate Cancer Therapy: Radiation TreatmentWhen it comes to treating prostate cancer most will tell you every case is different. Which says there is no one best cure for a cancerous prostate.
"After looking into my prostate cancer therapy options I decided on radiation," said Michael Czyzewski - a 51 year old health care analyst.

"Basically I wanted something that minimized the risk of temporary (or worse permanent) impotence or incontinence. I just didn't want any part of either as a result of prostate cancer treatments. Even if I just had to deal them for a few months." "Seemed to me that as a prostate cancer therapy, radiation treatments carried the fewest side effects. Yes there was the fatigue, and in my case the diarrhea, but I knew I could cope with those problems okay." Czyzewski went on, "In my case, computers were used in a process called "intensity modulated radiation" to precisely zap the tumor cells with radiation while sparing the nearby tissues. Which means cancerous regions of my prostate were hit with higher doses while normal tissue was subjected to lower levels of radiation." |
