What Are The Possible Side Effect of Flomax?

There Are Some Side Effect of Flomax to Be Aware Of

Flomax is often the drug of choice for BPH or an enlarged prostate.

You see when the walnut sized prostate gland enlarges it can press on the urethra making urination difficult and painful. When that happens Flomax works by relaxing the muscles around the prostate thus relieving the symptoms. Some report relief in as few as eight hours. Which is the good news.

The less than good news is the possible side effects which as you'd expect vary from person to person. Still it's wise to be aware of the downsides should you find yourself with a prescription for this drug in hand.

For one it can lower blood pressure when suddenly changing positions like say getting up out of the LazyBoy or off the couch. Signs of that include things like lightheadedness, dizziness even fainting in some cases when you first stand up. So until you know what to expect it's best not to make any sudden changes in position that might bring this on.

You might also experience the typical allergic reactions like rashes, itching or hives. In some serious cases swelling of face and throat or difficulty in breathing may also occur - although this is likely to rarely happen.

It can cause painful long lasting erections which do not go away even after sex. This one is more serious and requires immediate medical attention.

You'll want to mention you're taking Flomax if you're scheduled to have cataract surgery as alpha blockers can affect the outcome.

Other possible side effects mentioned would include runny noise, back pain, chest pain, cough, diarrhea, headache, sinus problems etc.

Should you experience anything that sounds like these you'll want to discuss the problems with your doctor. As only a qualify medical professional can decide if it's wise for you to continue with this medication. Or if one of the alternatives would be a better choice.
